BILD Self — Identity Integration

The Five R's
Identity Integration Cycle™

A personal operating system for integrating a new identity into how you think, decide, act, and lead.

01

Review

Study an excerpt — 1 to 10 pages — from Napoleon Hill, Thomas Troward, Earl Nightingale, James Allen or another trusted author whose work develops self-image, purpose, personal responsibility, disciplined thought, constructive action, or spiritual growth.

Choose literature that supports where you are and the person you are becoming.

02

Reflect

Ask: "How does this apply to me today?"

Identify where your current thoughts, beliefs, behaviours, or identity may be out of alignment with what you want.

03

Redirect

Identify the thought, belief, or behaviour that needs to change, then consciously replace it with one that supports the person you are becoming.

Write the outcome you wish to achieve in 1 to 3 sentences, in the present tense.

04

Repeat

Impress this new belief upon your subconscious through repetition — using autosuggestion, your definite purpose, self-image statements, or affirmations.

05

Reinforce

Create the image in your mind. Visualize yourself already thinking, behaving, and operating as that person.

Feel the outcome as real and mentally rehearse living from that identity.

Reinforce back to Review — run the cycle daily

Why the Five R's are necessary

You can consciously set a new goal, but if your subconscious identity remains unchanged, your existing beliefs and patterns will continue directing your behaviour.

This is why you can genuinely want something, know exactly what to do, and still procrastinate, hesitate, quit, or repeat the same choices. You are not necessarily lacking motivation or discipline. Your conscious goal and subconscious identity are in conflict, and the identity that has been reinforced the longest will usually win.

Lasting behaviour change requires more than setting a goal. You must repeatedly impress the identity capable of achieving that goal into your subconscious mind.

The Five R's Identity Integration Cycle™ is the daily system for doing that:

  • Review introduces ideas that support the identity you are developing.
  • Reflect reveals the beliefs and patterns currently influencing your behaviour.
  • Redirect replaces an old thought or response with one aligned with your new identity.
  • Repeat impresses that identity into your subconscious through consistent repetition.
  • Reinforce strengthens it through visualization and aligned action.

Each step has a purpose, and the process only works when it is followed consistently. Reading it once will not change your identity. Returning to it daily and genuinely embodying the process is what allows the new beliefs, decisions, and behaviours to take root.

The goal is to bring your subconscious identity into alignment with your conscious goals, so you stop working against yourself and begin naturally thinking, deciding, and acting like the person capable of achieving them.

This process is most effective when paired with a clear Definite Purpose and a self-image script that define where you are going and who you must become to get there.
